La Médiathèque c’est nous on Friday 13th September at Cinéma Nova, Brussels

With the defeatist resignation of a management team utterly disconnected from its organisation’s primary purpose, PointCulture has decided to discontinue the public use of its beloved archive of records, CDs, films and other cultural necessities, the aim being to stop all rentals and any further purchases of medias of all sorts. The reason? “Everything is available on the Internet anyway,” setting aside the unique ability of physical contact, suggestions and searches to initiate coincidental discoveries and widen the scope of the culturally-voracious. To protest this utter fallacy, a night of concerts, on-the-spot beatmaking, projections and DJ sets will all converge with the stated objective of demonstrating why, precisely, PointCulture’s archive can not and should not be relegated to warehouse status. Full and unconditional support. file View the event on Facebook

Oxhy & DJ Lostboi on Friday 13th September at Brasserie Atlas, Brussels

Changing it up somewhat after the summer season’s end, Brussels’ Slagwerk crew bring a new formula to their now much-anticipated nights with four live shows by the likes of London-based producer Oxhy (think sounds and words for funeral dirges), Iceland’s Europe and Rogergoon as well as Slagwerk’s own hexagon brozart. With pre-teen emo poster boy DJ Lostboi immersing the willing audience into a context closely ressembling his own bedroom, the night promises to be a firm departure from what Slagwerk has accustomed us to in the past. file View the event on Facebook
